IN YOUR FACE

One interesting thing about blogville is that commenters always seem to have your back except they sign in as 'anonymous,' they/ we seem to always be nice.

One blog posted on topic A, and the commenters cheered.

The the other blog posted on the flip-opposite topic B, and the commenters cheered.
(Some gave excuses for supporting A though).

Thanks for your comments the last time. But I got thinking why my 'status' should offend anyone. I could have blogged about my academic life, Abuja adventures, career goals, poetry, lifestyle, etc, but I choose 'abstinence' because as a blogspot reader, I couldn't relate to some blogs' content and in order to find a 'place,' I started my blog with a theme.

Having a theme keeps me from posting random posts and stay on track while narrating my experiences and dilemmas.

Through blogging, I have found an anonymous support group, and talk about things that I would talk about in class, church, while hanging out, or on the streets.

Virginity, sex, abstinence, aristos, guys, pervs..all that jazz.

Everyone know the bloggers with 3kids, the one who relocated to Nigeria, newly married guy, born-again, makeup artist, calabar indigene, budding designer, Island dwellers, married-a-virgin, NYSCorper.... Those are their themes.

Are the barren, 'stuck' green hard immigrants, unmarried, bad-at-makeup, not-from-calabar, untalented, Mainland locals, kpanshing-obsessed, underclassmen offended???

Maybe the 'virgin' stuff is in ones face, I'll change it...but Hey, that's my theme!!!! Sorry, all the other bloggers should start saying sorry.

I apologize for my blogdoings.

Should I change my layout or not?

p.s. I'm not angry oh!

I think that as it is your blog you should feel free to write about what is important to you.
If you want to change stuff around let it me because you feel that change is needed not because of peoples sayings

thats the beauty about blogging, you can say whatever you want.. your layout looks fine to me, but the choice is yours to make

Layout is cool my dear....No issues with it in my book..I think I already said u didn't need to bother yourself with what ppl thought. Your blog is about you, and it should remain un waverringly so! We got yr back. And whatever anyone might say, I fully support your descision for virginity, If i did, I would simply stop reading the blog.

I'm confused too oh!... I'm a make-up artist and I started blogging about make-up this month...that sucks!

on a brighter note, I decided what my theme is (just now!) I am a make-up artist blogging about beauty and life as a student!

No sorry from me oh...YET!

if i were still a virgin, im sure i'd take 'in ur face' to sky-rocketing level! i admire that u r proud of urself..be 'in ur face' all u want jo!

theres nothing wrong with ur layout..

Whatever!!!!! x 10

It's your blog. Your thinking space. Your place to reflect on the issues that matter to you. If they don't like it, then they should stop reading.

End of discussion.

CaramelD said...

Ps What's wrong with virgins anyway? ;)

If by layout, you mean your blog appearance, why no. Leave it as it is. Pink is cool, I guess. Ask writefreak. But if you meant to say your blog theme, well, that is entirely up to you. A blog topic doesn't have to be forever. If you're done with the virginity talk, then, go on to something else. Either way is you choice.

Yes. many bloggers don't take the time to soak in every blog content unless the post was really good. Hey, little time. many blog sites to visit so they skim through (like I probably did to yours) and leave a nice comment (you'll probably reciprocate on theirs as well). sorry I was blunt

Don't change anything for anyone! A blog is a place where you can express how you feel. What does someone have to come and tell you what you should or should not put up? This is your OWN space. They have their own blog, where they complain all they want. You didnt force anyone to come and read your posts. And to be honest your post about virginity was refreshing. so theres nothing to be ashamed of

sorry, just tot to give anoda perspective.

My dear don't change for anyone............ nothing do you!!!

Anonymous said...

why should you change? for anyone?

see ehn...what you do not realise is, asides from us bloggers we have a fan base that is off blogville and you do too...wooo you can like not to stop oh...I have kids from my church reading your blog on my recommendation...

In short my point is, I am no virgin so there's little I can say to convince them but having some real like them fending off the challenges is well...astounding...

there I said it...

I like that @ Chari

madam that should be enough for you to continue.

The same way you talk about your virginity is the same way some other people talk about how they had sex in the forest etc etc ( That used to annoy me) but it's your blog ...and you have the freedom to blog about what you want.

Being a Virgin before marriage is lovely.

Feel free to write as you wish.
its your blog, its your space. Whoever doesnt like it should "off pant and wave".

You can change your layout if you are tired of it, or just change the colours.

funny enuff i just put up a comment on your last post. didnt realise you had updated...

my dear...pls virginity and the struggles is your theme and you do not have to apologise for it! if anyone is offended then they shld stop reading your blog, abi!

i have been to some blogs where all they talk about is gossip, sex and such ludicrous things. I stopped reading them because they are not edifying to my soul or spirit.

So plssssssssssssssssssssss this is your theme, stick to it despite what people say.

me i am on ur side, u know that right?

God bless!

Writefreak said...

Sweetie, your theme is your thene and personally I love it!
Some bloggers talk about their sex escapades freely, why can't you talk about being a virgin. Abeg!
I was a virgin till I got married at 26+. I preach abstinence! If you don't like it, deal with it!
Leave your blog as it is, you have a right to what you want to write about jo!

Shubby Doo said...

there is nothing wrong with using a theme...i use one cos I wanted something to keep me on track...i started a blog for a reason…my reason

sweetie, there is nothing wrong with your theme... your choices are yours so if absence is your choice ...good...you are god's child

but so are theirs... if sex is their choice... good...they are God's children

a choice is not absolutely wrong or right...but it should always be the best for u at that moment in time...it should NEVER be forced on anybody...becos when it gets to that it is best to agree to disagree

my choice is to disabled anon comments because there are so many 2 faced people in the world and i have assumed that the same proportion of them exist in blogville...

Do u and don't let anybody judge u...this is your space... and they should respect it accordingly or leave silently

MY dear, I don't know what to say,
I get a feeling some people are attacking you, as regards the content of your blog.

You should stand by your convictions!
You wanted to blog about you abstain ace etc, and you don't need to apologize for it, and I believe some people have been learning one or two things from your blog.
Be YOU!

Adaeze said...

Do what you want to do and be confident about it. I think it's great you're blogging about abstinence. You are representing a view that is seen far too little these days and I am sure you are helping other people feel encouraged with your work!

Lady A said...

NO!!!! Don't ever apologize for doing the will of God, remember that! If God honors that then the heck with everyone else. It took me a long time to get it! The man I married was my first. I held on to my virginity because I knew the value of it, but more importantly, it was the will of God. Nobody is perfect. I will continue to CHEER you on dear!!!!! Keep blogging!

Original Mgbeke said...

NO. Why should you change your layout to make other people happy? Abstinence and virginity is what is important to YOU, so do YOU. If people have a problem with it, then they should waka. I personally have no issues with it, o jare.

Anonymous said...

Your blog is awesome and I dont understand how anyone could not agree or hate on it. You have dedicated followers, like me... so please don't change anything. More importantly, you have a voice that needs to be heard and respected. Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinions but please don't let that make you lose focus. Not only is this a catharsis for you, but through your writing you are fighting conventional thinking and sending a message to the world about so many things like: Abstinence, Dating, Culture, Self-Control and much more.

Being a virgin before marraige is great! Being bold and able to blog about it is greater!!!

You don't know how many other virgins wish they could blog about it. Keep up the good inspiring work, who knows you could lead someone out of temptation someday.

All the best dearie...

That's the spirit my dear, I like your attitude. Apologise to NO-ONE for being YOU and for choosing to write about what YOU want the way YOU want to write it... abeg it is a FREE world, and anyone who doesn't like it can zoom off... no-one is forcing anyone to read.... Do YOU, girl! And enjoy every moment of it!
